Covid Treatment

COVID-19, also known as coronavirus disease 2019, is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The disease was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and has since become a global pandemic [1]. COVID-19 is primarily spread from person to person through respiratory droplets when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild to severe and include fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, loss of taste or smell, and sore throat [3]. The disease can be particularly severe in older adults and those with underlying health conditions.

Prevention measures such as wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, and frequent hand washing are important in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Vaccines are also available and have been shown to be highly effective in preventing severe illness and hospitalization from COVID-19 [4]. If experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, it is important to get tested for the virus and follow public health guidelines to prevent the further spread of the disease.
